Being Thankful
A few days ago I celebrated my birthday, last valentines day to be exact. I had the day planned out for a couple weeks. Some drinking and singing with my friends. Since college I like drinking and getting drunk with my friends, it was a habit I brought up even when I’m now married and have two kids. I’m always confident that I can get to where I wanted and get home anytime unharmed. I was mistaken, this incident open my eyes to the reality. Just past Feb 13, 12 midnight Feb 14 I got into an accident that toppled my car over couple of times, the damage to the car was major. I wasn’t wearing any seatbelt and the airbag didn’t inflate on impact. I only suffered minor injuries, some bruises and a sharp object that pierced my jaw knocking some of my teeth out. I ended up celebrating my birthday in the hospital.

I’m thankful because with the kind of damaged the car suffered it was likely that anyone riding the car would surely die or suffer major injuries. I’m lucky not ending neither of the two. After the accident and already conscious came the time I thought about the losses in our materials things and the hospital expenses, etc… I realized none of those matter, what is important is true to what my sister in law texted me after the accident that I just got the most greatest gift of all. Not referring to the accident but the greatest gift of all is I got a second chance to life, a few more inches below my jaw it could have punctured my neck or above the jaw and I could have lost my eye etc, my CT scan could have shown damage to my brain.. all the different scenarios. You can never tell when an accident will happen and all materials things in the world doesn’t matter when you are dead.
Thanks to all my friends and family who sent their best wishes and prayers.
