Hiring the right people
Last week we had our room renovated, had the old wooden floor tiles changed to ceramic tiles and had the room repainted hence the scarcity of blog post. The recent makeover of our room was an untimely expenses on our budget. The old wooden tiles was due for replacement for most of them were already starting to loosen up through wear and tear and poor adhesive job.
We had a couple of carpenters who does regular carpentry works for us on the house during their off from work. Estimate for the adhesive cement to use for the whole room was only 3 bags by the supplier. Unfortunately the guys weren’t good at tiling, they didn’t do a good job on removing the old wooden tiles before putting in the adhesive cement for the ceramic, so the height was thicker to level things out. They used up the 3 bags and the job was only 1/4 done. I inquired for a new carpenter who’s expertise is tiling to finish off the job and found one. He had to follow the height that was initially done by the previous carpenter and it ended up consuming 10 bags of adhesive cement.
If we have planned better and hired the right people we wouldn’t have to shell out more than we have to. Another lesson learned.
