Looking Forward to 2009
For the past several years I relied on my skills on web design and development as source of income. Somehow I encountered a bleak realization this Holiday season which changed my outlook on what I should be doing for 2009. For the past several years I was working for others, with jobs on graphics design, web design and web development depending on client needs.
I was reading this old issue on Entreprenuer Mag and one quote from the Palangke Kid J.J. Javier caught my attention which he asked himself before starting his own company “How long am I going to work for someone else to have a good life?” The quote stuck in my head, though positive and inspiring somehow caused some sort of negative impact and mild depression. I had restless nights but now gotten a grip and I’m focused channeling all those negative thoughts and energies to improving our lives.
This 2009 I’m not setting resolutions, resolutions are somehow pointless for this are rules or laws you set that try to stick to, you can break your own rules, but by next year’s resolution you list them again. What I’ve done is set goals, goals which needs to be achieved.
- My first goal for 2009 is to channel all my skills to myself and start my own business, I don’t have enough capital yet and I’m still paying off some bad debts and mortgage but I know I can make it happen.
- Second is to plan a trip with my family maybe plan a trip to Hong Kong Disneyland, I know this is not the most frugal thing to right now, but I feel this is one reason of me having mild depression, I need to take a break and enjoy life a little with my family.
- Third is find a house or real estate property to invest to. If I can find another real estate property to invest to or any house for sale that is below its market value, I can consider making a housing loan if such opportunity comes.
- Fourth learn some skills in internet marketing and apply it to this site. The key to successful sites is good SEO and good content, so I’ll keep adding some of those tips on blog post in the future
- Last keep on saving and always be on the look out for business opportutinities.
