Scary Financial Crisis Pressure
What scary start of year. I just read in the news that another executive killed himself with a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Steven Good is the chairman and CEO of Sheldon Good & Co in the US one of the biggest real estate firm. Police are investigating what led to the suicide. Apparently one month earlier, he stated on the conditions on the current Real Estate market are challenging and getting suitable investors are harder due to the financial crisis.
In another twisted fate, Good’s death came hours before that of one of the richest billionaire in Germany Adolf Merckle age 74, who threw himself under a train near his hometown Blaubeuren. In 2007 He was worth 12.8 billion USD by most estimates(Forbes) and by Dec. 2008 he was still worth 9.2 billion dollars, a loss of 3.6 billion dollars. His empire was suffering big losses from the financial crisis. He left a note to his family before he took his own life.
A French investment manager, Thierry de la Villehuchet, who was despondent over blowing more than $1 billion in the alleged pyramid scheme of Wall Street titan Bernard Madoff killed himself by slitting his wrist last month in his Manhattan Office.
